Most people use the word water filter and water purifier interchangeably, assuming that they are just methods of removing contaminants from water. However, there are some specific differences that you should be aware of; something that will help you in choosing the specific product that you want to choose for your home.

A water filter and a water purifier will remove bacteria from water. This is done in a mechanical way where water is pushed through a filtration product. However, only a water purifier can help you make viruses inactive so that they cannot harm you. This is because a water purifier uses a chemical or an electrostatic process to make viruses inactive.

It is also important to look at the pore size that is mentioned on your water filter or water purifier. If you research and review a large number of water purifiers, you will see that these are the products that have a smaller pore size in microns ensuring that smaller bacteria also get removed from the water.

While a water purifier does help in removing a higher level of contaminants in most cases, it is recommended that you use some form of water filtration or water purification at all times. This will ensure that your water is never consumed untreated; a necessity due to the large number of contaminants that are found in water these days.

Unless you use a water purifier or a water filter, you will not be able to make sure that the water that your family is drinking is pure – not even with bottled or well water.
